History of Shri “Sachchiyay Mataji”
King Punj ruled the then Shrimal Nagar (Bhinmal) in Veer Samvat 70. Upaldeo, the brother of the king and minister Uhad left
Shrimal Nagar and nestled a new town Upkeshpur near Jodhpur (Raj.) which is known as Oshiya at present. There was a miraculous
temple at Jagat Bhawani Chamunda mataji in Oshiya. To please the Goddess in the desire of fulfilling the physical needs, lives
of bulls were offered. The then Jain Achary a Shrimad Vijay Ratna Prabhusuriji (in Veer Samvat 70) came to Upkeshpur to perform
“Anjan Shalaka” ritual of Jain temple of God Mahaveer which was built by Uhad. Achryashree was hurt because of
killing of animals at the temple of Chamunda Mata. He banned the Custom having given information to Uhad and king Upaldeo.
Where by Goddess Chamunda was displeased and exasperated, she tortured and cursed Acharyashree. Patient Achary stuck to his
religious activities bearing all the sufferings and devoting himself towards religion and seclusion. The Goddess was ashamed
therefore she appeared and asked Acharyshree the reasons for intervention in her customs.
Acharyshree demonstrated the pathetic narration of killing of dumb animals before the Goddess through the power of her knowledge.
He told the Goddess that haw it could please a Mother; she herself was a living creature by whom such heinous sins were taking
place, it would not help even her any more “I just want to drive you away from this wicked track for the welfare of
all and if you are a true mother, become mother of all.
The heart of the Goddess sank watching the pathetic scene created by Acharya’s power of knowledge; she apologized for
her doings and declared that she would ** not accept even a flower of red color and she would always be pitiful towards the
worshippers of Lord Mahaveer. Thereafter Acharya called Chamunda mata, a true mother who was renowned as “Sachchiyay
Mataji”. At the same Moment the Goodess and Acharya were highly acclaimed all around and by their message 3 lacs eighty
four thousands devotees accepted Jain religion which was called Oswal clan.There after the worships to sachchiyay mata were
begun to be accepted with “Lapsi” (Containing wheat), Saffron, Sandal and “Dhoop”.
Inspired by this “Oshiya” Shrine, The entire “Bafna” family of Bhinmal has built a temple of Lord
Mahaveer and Goddess Sachchiyay at a place called “Bafnawadi” in Bhinmal.
The splendid statue of the Goddess has been created by the artist Shanideo Sanjayji who belongs to Jaipur.

Bhinmal, the birth place of mathematician Aryabhatta who introduced zero to the world, Sanskrit literate Poet Magh and the
first astronomer Brahamgupt, is shining in the world-history. The soil of the eternal city has become sacred by the visit
of load Mahaveer during his lifetime. The blessed city has had historical attachment with great Jain-Saints Shri Gyanvimalsuri,
Shri Haribhadrasuri, Shri Munadasguni, Shri Udytansuri, Shri Siddhashiguni and Shri Rajendrasuriji during “Jin-Shasan”
(Jin Empire). That is why the Jin-Empire, developed from so many years is still established. The Bafnas arrived to the chaste
city of Bhinmal during Jin-Empire in 13th century of “Vikram samvat”.
According to the available history regarding the origin of Bafna community, King Jobanpal, the descendant of Parmar Sect,
King Prithuipal Parmar of Dhar (Malva – Madhy Pradesh) and Prince Sachchipal attacked Jalore which was dependant upan
Harshvardhan-Empire of Kannoj in Veer Samvat 6, Several times wars took place but there was no result.
